My home province British Columbia provides archery fall turkey hunting in a variety of Wildlife Management Units is the eastern part of the province. The bag limit is one bearded turkey.
My former home state of Illinois has the longest archery turkey hunting season, beginning on October 1st through January 15th. The archery season is closed during the regular firearm seasons on November 21, 22 & 23 (first season) and December 4, 5, 6 & 7. The archery season will not be closed during the muzzleloader only season from December 12 to and including December 14.
All counties are open to fall turkey hunting except, Cook, Douglas, DuPage, Ford, Kane and Lake. The bag limit is one turkey of either sex per permit.
Illinois neighbor Wisconsin boosts a turkey population explosion of an estimated 200,000 plus birds. The fall turkey hunting season begins on September 13 though November 20, 2008. Bag limits are one bird of either sex per permit.
In Wisconsin turkeys can be hunted with the aid of dogs in the following counties:
Crawford, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Richland, Sauk, Vernon, and Wood.
Missouri, the Show Me State has given me many deer and turkey hunting memories in the past. With a population of over a million turkeys this state comes very close to what I consider a turkey hunters paradise. The northern farmlands will have the largest fall turkey populations and is also home to some very impressive whitetail bucks.
Turkey archery season runs from September 15 through November 14, 2008 and then again from November 26 through January 15, 2009. Resident hunters may harvest 2 turkeys of either sex.
There you have it, get out there and take advantage of these opportunities. Have fun and above all be safe and act responsibly.
